A Pre-implementation Orientation workshop on ‘Training Implementation and Monitoring’ for third procurement of VST 2023 (VST III) was conducted on March 26, 2023 in Koshi Province. Under Sub-Component 1.3 Decent Jobs of RERP, vocational skills training to total 13,380 unemployed youths is being imparted on 34 different occupations from 11 sectors throughout this round. The training will be of three categories- Regular, In Agriculture Sector from Supply Chain Commodity, and In Partnership with Local Government. Participants included Executives or Training/Project coordinators from the Training and Employment Service Providers along with team from Project Management Office and SAMRIDDHI/Helvetas.
Mr. Saroj Prasad Guragain, Project Manager of RERP/SAMRIDDHI focused on the objective of the workshop during his welcome remarks. He also clarified the overall project goal and how it could contribute on reduction of poverty and sustainable development through imparting vocational skills and utilization of remittance. Team Leader from technical assistance team of SAMRIDDHI/Helvetas Nepal Mr. Sandip Poudel briefed about Decent Jobs, its major learnings and possible way forwards. Similarly account officer from SAMRIDDHI elaborated the financial compliances.
The meeting aimed to build a common understanding on Training Implementation and Monitoring Manual through group discussion. The open discussion was facilitated by Cluster Monitoring Officers whereas Contractual obligations and financial disbursement mechanism was oriented by Finance Manager from SAMRIDDHI /Helvetas. Major focus throughout the open discussion was on considering the timeline for implementation to complete the training cycle in 2023. Database Management and Reporting was also oriented.
The meeting resulted in a shared understanding of the potential risks and issues throughout training after rigorous discussion. A representative from T&Es provided his positive reflection of the day at the end. Program Officer from SAMRIDDHI/Helvetas Nepal concluded the meeting by thanking the participants for active participation and involvement in the discussion.
