Duhabi Municipality, Koshi Province, made a significant progress in developing a strategic plan aimed at improving TVET governance and the quality of vocational training to enhance local employment opportunities. The results of the baseline survey were presented to the municipal leadership, which included the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Ward Chairpersons, representatives, Chief Administrative Officer, occupational groups, and other key stakeholders. Following the presentation, a detailed discussion took place, along with group work focusing on three key questions related to vocational skills training and employment creation. An open discussion was also conducted to assess the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and challenges within the TVET sector. Input from various stakeholders was gathered to ensure that the strategic plan aligns with the community's needs and goals.
This collaborative effort not only validated the survey data but also enriched the strategic planning process with diverse perspectives. The feedback and analysis collected will be crucial in developing a comprehensive TVET Strategic Plan aimed at sustainable development and quality job creation in Duhabi Municipality. Supported by the Rural Enterprise and Remittance Project (RERP) with technical assistance from HELVETAS Nepal, this initiative underscores the significant role of local governance in Nepal’s federal structure and highlights the importance of TVET in youth empowerment and economic advancement.
The active participation of local stakeholders demonstrates the cooperative spirit essential for effective governance and the successful implementation of TVET initiatives, ensuring that the strategies developed are both practical and impactful.
