Strengthening TVET Governance at the Local Level in Barahathawa Municipality

Barahathawa Municipality, Madhesh Province, is nearing the finalization of a strategic plan focused on enhancing TVET governance and vocational training quality to boost local employment. The baseline survey results were shared with the municipal leadership, including the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Ward Chairpersons, representatives, Chief Administrative Officer, department heads, the Chamber of Commerce, occupational groups, and other stakeholders. Following the presentation, a detailed discussion and SWOT analysis were conducted to evaluate the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats within the TVET sector. Input from various stakeholders was also collected to align the strategic plan with community needs and goals.

This collaborative approach not only validated the survey data but also enriched the strategic planning with diverse insights. The gathered feedback and analysis will be pivotal in crafting a solid TVET Strategic Plan aimed at sustainable development and quality job creation in Barahathawa Municipality. This effort, backed by the Rural Enterprise and Remittance Project (RERP) with technical assistance from HELVETAS Nepal, underscores the vital role of local governance in Nepal’s federal framework and highlights the importance of TVET in youth empowerment and economic progress.

The enthusiastic involvement of local stakeholders showcases the cooperative spirit crucial for effective governance and the successful roll-out of TVET initiatives, ensuring that the formulated strategies are both practical and impactful.
