Under Sub Component 1.3 Decent Jobs of Rural Enterprise and Remittance Project “Samriddhi”, training for 13380 poor and unemployed youths has been running on 117 different local governments of the project area covering 11 different sectors and 34 occupations. In this phase, the training has been running under three categories: VST Regular, VST through supply chain to promote agricultural based vocational skills and VST collaboration with local government. 10850, 1090 and 1440 unemployed youths will be trained via Regular VST, through Supply Chain and cost sharing approach with Palika respectively. .
1090 participants from different supply chain groups from sub component 1.1 Supply Chain Development are being trained on occupations like Off season Vegetable Producer, Community Livestock Assistant, Village Animal Health Worker, Community Agriculture Assistant, Herbal Farm Worker and Junior Poultry Technician. This would enhance their skills which will help them grow their production and move towards modern techniques.
On the category ‘Collaboration with local government’, MoU has been signed with 12 local governments for institutionalizing result-based financing system at the local level with the aim of state building at federal level. The local governments will contribute between 3 to 5% of the funds for the implementation of the training, and they will also provide tools and equipment as facilitation to the graduates for employment support. They will take ownership, supporting and monitoring throughout the stages from participant selection to result measuring stages, and eventually replicating the modality in coming days. Five local governments from Koshi Province and seven from Madhesh Province will work in partnership for imparting vocational skills training.
