November 24th-25th, 2019: Rural Enterprises and Remittances project (RERP) organized first province level Multi Stakeholder Platform (MSP) on goat supply chain at Itahari- Sunsari. MSP is a platform where government, private and civil society working together with various actor such as entrepreneurs, farmers and technical persons involve in generating knowledge to develop goat supply chain in coordination with smallholder farmers group and local traders. The Goat MSP is to strongly support goat farming supply chain for sustainable income of various actors involved in this livestock sector.
Participants during the program interacted and involved in dialogue amongst and in between actors of goat farming sector. The National Agriculture research Centre (NARC) and National Live Stock Research center (NLSRC) located at district level in Sunsari also provided various tools and techniques for goat farming for economic opportunities with in the country.
The program was conducted at Hotel Pathivara Intl, Itahari where participation was made by the Livestock Expert, NARC Dhankuta— Dr. Ramesh Kumar Shah, Livestock Insurance Expert— Mr. Deepak Pokhrel, banking service provider from Laxmi Bank Manager — Mr. Bikash Oli, Project Manager —Mr. Saroj Guragain, Chamber of Commerce Representative, Heifer International District Manager, RER Project supply chain theme lead followed by staffs of goat supply chain unit of the project.
