District Start-Up Workshop Biratnagar

RERP and Chamber of Industries, Morang (CIM) organized ONE day district start up workshop in Morang district at 13th October 2017. Governmental and non-governmental organizations, members of banks and MFIs, media, migration associations, RERP team and CIM member altogether 80 participants composed of 54 male and 26 female participated the program at - Chamber of Industries, Morang (CIM) hall in Morang district.

During the workshop, information was disseminated to district level stakeholders on RERP working modality, strategy, cost and financing, funding mechanism, information on project partner and organizations were presented to the stakeholders. This project start up workshop also made further coordination and linkages with various organizations working in enterprises development, livelihood, market and business development, safe migration and financial sector in the districts.

The formal program was chaired by CIM’s Chairperson and District Coordination Committee's Chairperson was invited as a chief guest. Moreover, representatives from district governmental offices as well as media personnel were presented in the workshop.

Mrs. Prativa Rijal Oli anchored the workshop & delivered the welcome remarks. Mr Mukesh Upadhyaya, CIM's chairperson, initiated the program to all attendees and extended greetings for Dashain and Tihar. He conveyed commitment to discourage exodus to gulf nations by creating employment opportunities in local level. Moreover, pledged to work for productive channeling of remittance & proliferation of entrepreneurial activities. Mr Rakesh Jha, RERP-Business Development Specialist (BDS), expounded about RERP and made PowerPoint presentation on introduction, project components, project structure & methodology. RERP Project Manager, Saroj Guragain, extended greetings note to everyone. Mr Naresh Pokhrel, DCC representative, applauded the project's commitment in creation of new jobs and retain Nepalese youth in their homeland. Nevertheless, he also warned about jeopardy inflicted in the wake of excessive overhead costs & urged the project stake holders to maintain low overhead expenses.

Participants were excited and interactively participated in the workshop. Queries were mainly based on RERP's GESI strategy, the uniqueness of RERP, loan disbursement strategy and market linkage. BDS Specialist, Mr Jha, thanked everyone for their curiosity and happily answered all the queries ascertaining that no trace of doubt is left behind. Lastly, Mr Lokendra Rawal, Koshi Sagarmatha Corridor Coordinator, addressed further queries and concluded the program.
