M&E, MIS,KM & National ExCap Workshop

On 9th Jan 2018, IFAD Nepal Projects organized Thematic Team Workshop on Planning M&E, MIS and Knowledge Management at Hotel Barahai, Pokhara. All IFAD funded projects within the country such as Rural Enterprises and Remittances Project (RERP), High Value Agriculture Project (HVAP), Improved Seeds for Farmers Program (KUBK/ISFP), Adaptation for Smallholders in Hilly Areas (ASHA) and Poverty Alleviation Fund (PAF) Project Directors, IFAD Nepal country program officer, Government of Nepal officers, designated project staffs altogether 30 participants participated the workshop. The workshop was managed by HVAP. Ideas and experience was shared, roadmap for the upcoming activities to be accomplished by each projects was shared among the Intra- IFAD project members.

Following four days program from 10th to 13th January was focused on National Training and Workshop on Experience Capitalization. The “Capitalization of Experiences for Greater Impact in Rural Development” project is being implemented in different parts of the world by the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA), in collaboration with Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), and with financial support from IFAD. It started in April 2017 and aims to facilitate the adoption of an experience capitalization process in rural development initiatives, where it can help improve the analysis, documentation, sharing, and the adoption and use of lessons and good practices – as an approach for continuous learning, improvement and scaling up. 

The National Training and Workshop on Experience Capitalization this time in Pokhara, Nepal is outcome of active participants from KUBK-ISFP and HVAP team members who participated the workshop organized in India last year. This initiative in Nepal wishes to institutionalize Experience Capitalization process by conducting two workshops. This first workshop in Pokhara was coordinated by HVAP. As discussed during the program the second workshop will be coordinated by RERP/Samriddhi.

The overall objective of the "Experience Capitalization (ExCap)" was to capacitate project staff to bring the better impact in rural program by capitalizing experiences (project and individual). Hence, the first "Experience Capitalization training/workshop" was organize in Pokhara from 10 -13th  January 2018 a module designed for institutionalization of the "Experience Capitalization Process" in Nepal through several initiatives is being implemented by Government of Nepal with the financial assistance of IFAD.  

The workshop was facilitated by International consultant Mr Jorge Chavez-Tafur, Associate Programme Coordinator, Knowledge Management, CTA, Holland, The Netherlands together with National Facilitators Mr. Krishna Thapa (M&E Expert, HVAP), Dr. Hari Sharma Neupane (Micro-finance Specialist, ISFP), Renu Chamling Rai (GESIGD Expert, HVAP) and Mr. Krishna Prasad Paudel (M&E Expert, ISFP).
