Harion Municipality, Madhesh Province Steps Toward Finalizing TVET Strategic Plan

Harion Municipality is at the conclusive stage of developing a TVET Strategic Plan aimed at enhancing TVET governance and the quality of vocational skills training at the local level for employment creation. The findings of the baseline survey were shared with the Harion Municipality body, including the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Ward Chairpersons and representatives, Chief Administrative Officer, section heads, the Chamber of Commerce, occupational associations, and other stakeholders. The presentation of the baseline survey findings was followed by a comprehensive discussion session, during which a SWOT analysis was conducted to assess the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats related to the TVET sector. Additionally, expectations from various stakeholders were gathered to ensure that the strategic plan aligns with the local needs and aspirations.

This participatory approach not only validated the survey findings but also enriched the strategic planning process with diverse insights. The feedback and analysis collected will be instrumental in formulating a robust TVET Strategic Plan, aimed at sustainable development and decent job creation in Harion Municipality. This initiative, supported by the Rural Enterprise and Remittance Project (RERP) with technical assistance from HELVETAS Nepal, underscores the importance of local governance in Nepal’s evolving federal system and highlights the critical role of TVET in empowering the youth and fostering economic growth.

The active involvement of local stakeholders exemplifies the collaborative spirit essential for effective governance and the successful implementation of TVET initiatives, ensuring that the strategies developed are both practical and impactful.
