4th November 2017, First Supervision Joint Mission for RERP team members Mr Saroj Prasad Guragain the Project Manager together with mission team leader Mr Nigel Smith and Consultant IFAD Nepal Mr Sanjeeb Sherestha with RER project management team members made field visit to Rajbiraj of Saptari district and observed the local market.
The field visit was then followed by discussion meetings at Siraha and Udayapur District Chamber of Commerce and Industries (DDCIs). The DCCIs team members including local enterprises and small industries owners at local community members participated the discussion meetings at DCCI offices in these districts. The discussion was focused in understanding the local players, the reality of the project working areas. Some of the major questions were concentrated on i) current business and enterprises prospect ii) the trend of migration and remittances earning from destination countries and how returnees are engaged at home now iii) how much is the prospect of on farm and off-farm based enterprise in the local community iv) what kind of enterprises could be viable for enterprise promotion where women, youth including disadvantaged active poor could have economic opportunities v) what is the trend of skilled manpower in the community vi) what groups of people could come to the supply chain in promoting and forming enterprises.
