Hira with the project support generates income

Ms. Hira Shrestha 40, a local resident of Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality-1 Diktel, Khotang district is one of participant of Tailoring training organized by Training & employment service provider; Panchakanya Training Institute Pvt.Ltd, Pokhara with technical support of SAMRIDDHI-HELVETAS NEPAL for unemployment youth who wants to start their own business or continuing their same occupation. Ms Shrestha has a small family with husband and two children (17- and 14-years old daughter and Son), her family has an around 3.5 aana land only where a house has built for shelter. Her husband has small electronics shop and she supported partially to her husband when she got free from the household work. She was financially dependent to her husband, Hira always worried and searching for a reliable training for employment. She tried and applied three times for the tailoring training in Cottage and small Industry Office, Diktel but she didn't get such an opportunity. She has a strong will to do something to generate own income.

One day she came to touch with local instructor and know regarding tailoring training, which is going to conduct for those women who wants to start their own enterprise or continuing the same occupation after taking the technical skill. She immediately applied for the training and selected through the interview process. The training was started from the 26th May 2019 and she joined in the training daily.

During the training period she picked up vary fast; the main instructor said ' she is one of regular, punctual and enthusiastic participant. She purchased old sewing machine worth Rs.5500 and practicing in the home which she was learned in the training daily. It made her more encourage and hopeful. After completion of three months (65 days) training she has started a tailoring business on 30th Aug 2019 in own building shutter by taking loan of NRs 1,00,000 from Mauli Micro Finance Limited, Diktel in 20% interest rate and NRs15,000 supported by her husband to purchase furniture, an additional stitching machine, Interlock machine, cloths and some raw materials. She shared the plan of own business to Cottage and small Industry Office, Diktel and has got partial supported (75% subsidy worth of Rs.15000) on one stitching machine. She has kept own trainee friends named; Ms. Narmaya Basnet and Puspa Magar (2 training graduates) in her business with agreement of piece basis.

Now days she started to earn around NRs 4,500 daily and makes daily saving of NRs. 500 in cooperative. She paid her staff monthly NRs.12000 to 14000 based on total pieces of cloth. She has also paid loan NRs.40, 000 to Micro-Finance up to now.  By the earning she feels better for livelihood than previous. She has able to manage household chores and pay her daughter monthly college fee and miscellaneous expenses NRs. 10,000. She is creative, innovative and sharp mind women. She is using YouTube and learnt draft and cutting process and trying to make new items like Lehanga choli, Gaaun, Les sadi etc. She shares photos and advertises of new items with in the circle, friends and relatives in the Facebook for the selling purpose. She also feels that her husband is very positive and supportive towards her business. She has first planned to register her business in "Cottage and small industry office" as named in "Unisha Tailoring Centre" and expand her business in future and wants to be a qualified instructor too.
