Cooperative Self- Assessment Workshop

31st May 2018, Janakpur Corridor Office of RERP- Samriddhi, conducted a day “cooperative self-assessment workshop” with the view of assessing ground reality of cooperatives. Altogether, 30 members from different 26 cooperatives of Dhanusha and Mahottari districts with RERP staff members joined the program at Hotel Binayak, Bardibas. 

Mr. Sanjay Shah, the member of District Cooperatives Association Dhanusha, inaugurated workshop by reading the content of banner. Program then was followed by Corridor Coordinator, Mr. Moti Bahadur Giri’s, welcome remarks where he shed lights on the objective of the program.  

Mr. Shah the chief guest in his positive note added - “RERP certainly, is the platform for poor and rural youth, women, and farmers” then urged the project implementers for effective implementation of rural finance activities at field level.  

During the technical session, Financial Inclusion Specialist, Mr. Jay Ram Khadka convinced participants that Project is implementing its Rural Finance activities in coordination with local level Micro-Finance Institutions/Cooperatives and strengthening the capacity of cooperatives. Similarly, Mr. Santosh Adhikari, Rural Finance Specialist of the project presented detail on Rural Finance and its implementation modality and implication in the field level. 

Both of the specialists from projects facilitated participants in filling up the self-assessment forms of cooperatives designed by RERP as well as taught on how to record in excel sheet in the computer. 

Mr. Laxman Yadav, chairperson of District Cooperatives Association Mahottari chaired the wrap up session as the chief guest. Mr Yadav, stated -“cooperatives have good outreach in the rural areas but with very limited institutional capacity”. And therefore, he expected that project such as RERP can be enormously supportive in capacitating cooperatives. 

The host of the program, Mr. Jiban Kumar Shrestha (Migration Officer) announced the closure of the program.
