Local Governments Extend Post-Training Support, Empowering Graduates in Entrepreneurial Ventures

The trainees from recently completed 390-hour training, aimed at equipping youths with essential skills for employment and self-employment, has been supported remarkably from Myanglung Municipality and Miklajung Rural Municipality in Koshi Province, and Golonjar Municipality in the Bagmati Province.

Myanglung Municipality, Terhathum, led the way by providing 40 aspiring tailor masters with sewing machines, a key asset for their craft. It has also worked on a cost-sharing approach with the project training 260 local youths across various occupations. Similarly, Miklajung Rural Municipality, Morang, also embraced the initiative by equipping 40 Dhaka Weaver trainees with the traditional Dhaka weaving tool 'Taan.' During a program held at ward no. 7, Ward President Mr. Sushil Raj Chauhan expressed his enthusiasm for collaboration with SAMRIDDHI, outlining plans for advanced courses in the pipeline. The collaborative effort was assisted by Mawanusari Samudayik Ban (Community Forest) with contribution of essential wood for the tools.

Golonjar Municipality, Bagmati Province, supported with a pair of plastic tunnels each to 26 aspiring farmers, 20 of whom were trainees of Off-Seasonal Vegetable Production from SAMRIDDHI. This support not only provided aid to the trainees' income-generating potential but also strengthens the village's agricultural backbone. It has enabled these trainees to successfully cultivate tomatoes, yielding satisfying profits recently.

The encouragement and support provided by these local governments have proven instrumental in empowering trainees to establish themselves in income-generating enterprises. The acknowledgment of skill training by local authorities lays a foundation for the institutionalization of Vocational Skills Training, fostering the empowerment of unemployed youths within the community.
